How to use Maintd

How do I create an account?

Open the app and sign up with your email address. From there, a short setup walks you through adding your first home and vehicle.

How does Maintd build my maintenance schedule?

During setup, you tell us about your home (property type, zip code, which systems and features you have) and your vehicle (year, make, model, fuel type). We use that to generate a personalized list of maintenance tasks — timed using your actual climate zone, not a generic calendar.

Can I track more than one home or vehicle?

Yes. From the Garage tab, use Add Vehicle or Add Property to add as many as you own.

How do I scan my VIN?

The VIN scanner appears automatically during initial vehicle setup, right after you sign up. Point your camera at the barcode on your VIN sticker (usually on the driver's-side door jamb) and we'll decode your vehicle's year, make, model, and trim automatically.

I added a vehicle later from the Garage tab — where's the scanner?

Right now, VIN scanning only happens during that first setup flow. If you add a vehicle afterward from Garage → Add Vehicle, you'll enter the year, make, and model manually. We're aware this is inconsistent and it's on our list to fix.

How do I add a photo of my equipment or tires?

For tires: go to Garage, tap a vehicle, then tap a tire set, and use Take Photo or Choose Photo.

For home equipment: go to Garage → Photo Gallery → View All Photos, then tap any item's thumbnail to take or choose a photo.

Where can I see all my photos in one place?

Garage → Photo Gallery shows every photo you've added — home equipment and vehicle tires together — in one list.

How do reminders work?

We schedule push notifications based on the reminder timing you chose during setup (for example, 7 days and 3 days before something's due, plus the day of).

Can I sync my tasks to my phone's calendar?

Yes. Go to Settings → Sync All Tasks to Device Calendar. This is a one-way sync — it adds Maintd's reminders to your device calendar, but Maintd never reads your existing calendar events.

How do I stop syncing?

Settings → Remove All Tasks from Device Calendar removes everything Maintd previously added.

How do I mark a task done?

Open the task and tap Mark Complete. You can record the date it was done, any cost, notes, and whether you did it yourself or hired a pro.

Where's my service history?

Check the Toolbox tab, or go to Settings → Service History to get there from Settings.

Can I export my service history?

Yes — Settings → Export Service History, then choose CSV or PDF. The PDF is formatted to hand off to a home buyer or insurance adjuster.

What are the DIY guides?

AI-generated, step-by-step instructions for a task, specific to your equipment. They're a helpful starting point — not a substitute for your owner's manual. Always verify safety-related specs (tire pressure, torque values, fluid types) against your own documentation, and consult a professional for safety-critical work. How do I find replacement parts?

Toolbox → Find Parts searches for relevant parts listings.

How do I find a local professional?

Toolbox → Find a Pro shows nearby service providers for the task you're looking at.

How do I delete my account?

Email hello@maintd.app and we'll delete your account and associated data.

How do I sign out?

Settings → Sign Out.
